What time do the services start?
Morning service: 10:30
Evening Service: 18:00
They generally last between and hour and an hour and a half.
What is the service like?
The people are very friendly and we often have visitors as Caerwent is a historic village and is very near the Forest of Dean and is within half an hour’s drive from 3 major cities (Bristol, Cardiff and Newport).
The service begins with some announcements from a Deacon and a welcome from Pastor Gwydion. We will sing a hymn and then Pastor Gwydion will give a children’s story (in the mornings only). There will be a Bible reading, some more hymns and a prayer or two. Then, Pastor Gwydion will preach a sermon from the Bible. He preaches through books of the Bible and occasionally will do a topical sermon series. Go to the ‘Sermons’ page to hear the sermons.
After the service, teas, coffee (filter coffee) biscuits and sometimes brownies are served in the side room which is adjoined to the chapel.
What should I wear?
You can wear whatever you want. There is no formal dress code. The Pastor only wears suits for weddings and funerals.
Do you have anything for children?
Yes. During the morning service, after the third hymn the children will go through to the side room for Sunday School. But, they are welcome to stay in for the whole service if you prefer.
What facilities do you have?
Our W.C facilities are newly refurbished. We have two toilets, one is a disabled toilet which also has a cord alarm and modern baby changing facilities.
There is easy disabled access to both the main chapel and the side room.
Where should I park?
There are places to park on the side of School Lane but we would encourage you to use the nearby visitors car park which we have permission to use. The car park is closed in the evenings, so you can park along School Lane which leads to the chapel.
