Pastor Gwydion Emlyn
Pastor Gwydion is married to Libby and became our Pastor on St. David’s Day – March 1st, 2017. He is a first-language Welsh speaker and is originally from Drefach in the Gwendraeth Valley, but moved to Llanelli at the age of ten. He felt the Lord was calling him to the ministry in 2009, so he obtained a BA Theology from Union School of Theology (accredited by Chester University). He then became Assistant to the Pastor at St. Mellons Baptist Church, Cardiff for two and a half years before coming here. His work is to preach the Bible, shepherd God’s people, pray for the Church, disciple the saints and share the Gospel of Jesus with the communities around us.

Andrew Close – Deacon and Church Secretary
Andrew married Kath in 2006 and has two boys. He is originally from Barry, Kath is from Reading, but they’ve been living in Rogiet and attending Caerwent Baptist since 2007. He works as a Telecommunications Engineer for Nokia and also serves as our Church Secretary. Andrew also occasionally preaches with us and at other local churches. Outside of work, he enjoys music, sport and supports Cardiff City F.C.
Robert Ramos – Deacon and Treasurer
Rob and his family live in Undy and have been attending Caerwent Baptist since 2005. Originally from Rhode Island, USA, he married Charlotte who’s from Magor and they have three daughters. Rob works as a Nuclear Engineer at Oldbury-on-Severn Power Station. He loves to read the works of the Puritans, serves as our Church Treasurer and occasionally preaches in Caerwent and other local churches.
Alistair Forsyth – Deacon
Alistair was born in Fife on the east coast of Scotland, but he and his wife Suzanne have lived in Wales for over thirty years and have been members of Caerwent Baptist for over 20 years – they have managed to keep their accents though. Alistair works for Tata Steel as a Project Consultant and serves as a Sunday School teacher in the church. They have a son and a daughter.
Andrew Meates – Deacon
Andrew first came to Caerwent Baptist with his parents where he met Pamela, his now wife, when they were teenagers. They married in 1980 and then moved away. They have one daughter and two sons (all grown-up), and to-date they have three grandsons. Andrew is a qualified nurse/teacher and for 32 years has worked as a Senior Nurse in the Cardio Thoracic Directorate at the University Hospital of Wales before taking up his current position as Education and Practice Development Nurse. Andrew and Pamela have been back worshipping at Caerwent Baptist for the past ten years.
Charles Unsworth – Deacon
Charles is a member of The Gideons and does ministerial work for them locally. He and his wife Jenny have been attending Caerwent Baptist for twenty-four years. Together, they have two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Charles is the former Church Secretary and preaches regularly in local churches and occasionally with us. He worked in Nuclear power stations for twenty-five years before becoming a University lecturer in Physics and Geology for thirteen years prior to his retirement.
Chris Esbester – Deacon
Chris has been attending Caerwent Baptist since the age of eight when his parents moved to Undy. He now lives in Magor with Sarah his wife, and their daughter. Since graduating from the University of Bath, Chris has work in industry specialising in Energy and Environmental Management. He occasionally preaches at Caerwent and other churches.
Michael Parkhouse – Deacon
Michael and his wife Ruby come from Devon. They have two sons and seven granddaughters. In 1974, Michael was going through a difficult period in his life and decided to visit his brother in Australia where he gave his life to Jesus and became a Christian. Shortly after, Michael and Ruby bought another farm and moved to Monmouthshire to continue his work as a dairy farmer. They joined Caerwent Baptist in 1981 and Michael eventually became the Treasurer until he handed the duty to Rob in 2016.
